Money is part of everyday life. It influences how we live, what we prioritize, and the decisions we make. But as followers of Jesus, our perspective on money shouldn’t come from culture—it should come from God’s Word. The Bible has a lot to say about finances. Not to make us feel guilty—but to lead us to freedom, wisdom, and purpose.Whether you’re in a season of plenty or living paycheck to paycheck, here’s the truth: you can honor God with your money. And when you do, it changes everything.
Let’s start here: money isn’t good or bad. It’s a tool—something we manage, not something that manages us.
💸 Money isn’t evil. Loving it is.
“The love of money is a root of all kinds of evil.” – 1 Timothy 6:10
God isn’t against money—He’s against greed, obsession, and putting our trust in wealth instead of Him.
❤️ Money reveals our heart.
“Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” – Matthew 6:21
What you spend on, save for, or stress over shows what you value most.
👑 Money must never take God’s place.
“You cannot serve both God and money.” – Matthew 6:24
Money makes a terrible master. But in God’s hands, it becomes a powerful tool for good.
Generosity isn’t about what you have—it’s about who you trust.
👐 God calls us to be generous.
“A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” – Proverbs 11:25
Giving doesn’t deplete us—it blesses us and reflects God’s own heart.
📦 Jesus teaches generosity is abundant.
“Give, and it will be given to you… running over…” – Luke 6:38
You can’t outgive God. When you give with joy, He pours it back in unexpected ways.
🎁 God loves a cheerful giver.
“Each of you should give… not reluctantly… for God loves a cheerful giver.” – 2 Corinthians 9:6–7
Generosity isn’t a guilt trip. It’s a grace opportunity.
Tithing is the biblical principle of giving the first 10% of your income back to God. It’s a step of faith that says: “God, I trust You with everything.”
📖 Tithing is a test of trust.
“Bring the whole tithe… and see if I will not… pour out so much blessing…” – Malachi 3:10
Tithing isn’t about getting rich. It’s about learning to rely on God.
🙌 Tithing recognizes God owns it all.“
A tithe… belongs to the Lord; it is holy…” – Leviticus 27:30
Giving the first part back reminds us where it all came from in the first place.
✅ Jesus affirms tithing—but calls for more.
“You give a tenth… but you’ve neglected justice, mercy, and faithfulness.” – Matthew 23:23
Tithing is good—but it’s just the beginning. God wants our hearts more than our habits.
A heart for generosity must include compassion for the hurting.
🤲 God sees how we treat the poor.
“Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord…” – Proverbs 19:17
When you give to someone in need, God says, “I count that as a gift to Me.”
👥 The early Church set the example.
“They sold property… to give to anyone who had need.” – Acts 2:44–45
The Church thrives when generosity flows.
❤️ Jesus says it’s personal.
“Whatever you did for one of the least of these… you did for Me.” – Matthew 25:40
Serving the poor is serving Jesus.
Stewardship is about managing what God has entrusted to you—your time, talents, and treasure—with wisdom and intention.
🌍 Everything belongs to God.“The earth is the Lord’s… and everything in it.” – Psalm 24:1
You’re not the owner—you’re the manager. That mindset changes everything.
📈 God expects us to use what He’s given.Read: The Parable of the Talents – Matthew 25:14–30
Faithful stewardship leads to growth, reward, and responsibility.
🔒 Faithfulness is the goal.“Those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.” – 1 Corinthians 4:2
It’s not about having more. It’s about honoring God with what you already have.
When we give, we’re not just helping others—we’re worshiping God.
🔥Giving brings glory to God.
“Your giving results in many expressions of thanks to God.” – 2 Corinthians 9:12–13
Every dollar given with love becomes a song of praise.
🎉 God loves joyful giving.
The widow’s two coins (Mark 12:41–44) meant more to God than the Pharisees’ large gifts. Why? Because it came from the heart.
🙏 Giving is an act of faith.
“Don’t forget to do good and to share… God is pleased.” – Hebrews 13:16
When we give, we’re saying: “God, I trust You to provide.”
Here are some practical ways to put all this into action:
📊 Start with a budget – Stewardship starts with clarity.
🎯 Tithe first – Put God first in your giving, not last.
💡 Set aside funds for the poor – Build generosity into your plan, not just your feelings.
🚫 Avoid debt when you can – “The borrower is slave to the lender.” – Proverbs 22:7
Living within your means brings freedom.
🧎Pray about your finances – Invite God into your money decisions.
