Grieve, but with Hope

Matthew 5:4 – “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”

1 Thessalonians 4:13 – “We do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.”

Romans 5:5 (NLT) And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.

Remember Jesus Prepared Us for Trouble

John 16:33 – “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

John 15:18 – “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.”

Acts 5:40-42 (NIV) They called the apostles in and had them flogged. Then they ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name. Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Messiah.

Recognize the Real Battle

Ephesians 6:12 – “Our struggle is not against flesh and blood…”

Deuteronomy 31:8 (NIV) “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

Live in Peace by Trusting Jesus

Isaiah 26:3 – “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”

1 Peter 5:7 (NIV) Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
