The Work of the Holy Spirit In Us

Galatians 5:16–25 NLT - So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions. But when you are directed by the Spirit, you are not under obligation to the law of Moses.

When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.

The Holy Spirit doesn't just want to work through you. He lives in you so He can work in you — making you more and more like Jesus.

• He INDWELLS you. - God is present in us

‍

• He SEALS us. – We belong to God

‍

THE HOLY SPIRIT DIDN'T MOVE IN JUST TO OCCUPY SPACE,

HE MOVED IN TO GO TO WORK.

‍

Philippians 2:13 NLT - "For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him."

‍

1. THE HOLY SPIRIT CONVICTS US

‍

Conviction isn't evidence that God has left you,

Conviction is evidence that He’s working in you.

‍

John 16:8 NLT - "And when he comes, he will convict the world of its sin, and of God's righteousness, and of the coming judgment."

‍

Romans 8:1 NLT - "So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus."

‍

CONVICTION ISN'T GOD REJECTING YOU, IT'S GOD RENOVATING YOU.

‍

2. THE HOLY SPIRIT RENEWS US

‍

Titus 3:5 NIV - He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit…

‍

Romans 12:2 NIV - Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

‍

THE HOLY SPIRIT DOESN'T JUST CHANGE WHAT YOU DO, HE RENEWS HOW YOU THINK.

‍

3. THE HOLY SPIRIT TRANSFORMS US

‍

2 Corinthians 3:18 NIV - And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

‍

YOUR GIFT CAN IMPRESS A ROOM, YOUR CHARACTER REVEALS WHAT GOD IS DOING IN YOUR HEART.

‍

4. THE HOLY SPIRIT PRODUCES FRUIT IN US

‍

Galatians 5:22–23 NLT - But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

‍

FRUIT IS THE VISIBLE EVIDENCE OF THE INVISIBLE WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.

‍

PRESSURE DOESN'T CREATE FRUIT. PRESSURE REVEALS FRUIT.

‍

Galatians 5:16 NLT - "So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives..."

‍

Romans 8:14 NLT - "For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God."

‍

LISTEN.

‍

YIELD.

‍

OBEY.

‍

Philippians 2:13 NLT - "For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him."

‍

He convicts you.

He renews you.

He transforms you.

He produces fruit in you.

‍

HE'S WORKING IN US…
