Purpose—the reason something was created

Ecclesia—Church—purpose of Church

Holy Spirit—Our purpose cannot be accomplished without HS

John 14:15-17, 25-26 (NLT) “If you love me, obey my commandments. {16} And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Comforter, who will never leave you. {17} He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and will be in you. {25} I am telling you these things now while I am still with you. {26} But when the Father sends the Comforter as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.”

Galatians 5:16-17 (NIV) So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. {17} For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want.

1 John 2:16 (NLT) For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions.

Matthew 6:24 (NIV) “No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other—now he gives us an example—You cannot serve both God and Money.”

Galatians 5:22 (LB) But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives he will produce this kind of fruit in us…love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NIV) Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; {20} you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.

Luke 3:16 (NLT) John answered their questions by saying, “I baptize you with water; but someone is coming soon who is greater than I am—so much greater that I’m not even worthy to untie the straps of his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.”

Ezekial 36:26-27 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. {37} And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.

Psalm 139:23-24 Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

John 16:8 “When [Holy Spirit] comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment:”

Psalm 51:10-11 Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. {11} do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me.

Ephesians 5:18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit.

Romans 8:26 (NKJV) The Spirit also helps in our weaknesses.
