 HOW TO REWIRE YOUR FAITH 

John 17:14-19 (ESV) 

4 I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 15 I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one.[a] 16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 17 Sanctify them[b] in the truth; your word is truth. 18 As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. 19 And for their sake I consecrate myself,[c] that they also may be sanctified[d] in truth. 

1 John 2:15-17 (MSG) 

15-17 Don’t love the world’s ways. Don’t love the world’s goods. Love of the world squeezes out love for the Father. Practically everything that goes on in the world—wanting your own way, wanting everything for yourself, wanting to appear important—has nothing to do with the Father. It just isolates you from him. The world and all its wanting, wanting, wanting is on the way out—but whoever does what God wants is set for eternity. 

Proverbs 23:6-7 (AMP) 

Do not eat the bread of a selfish man, 

Or desire his delicacies; 

For as he thinks in his heart, so is he [in behavior—one who manipulates]. He says to you, “Eat and drink,” 

Yet his heart is not with you [but it is begrudging the cost]. 

Matthew 5:38-39 (NIV) 

38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’ 39 But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. 

Matthew 5:38 (AMP) 

38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘AN EYE FOR AN EYE, AND A TOOTH FOR A TOOTH [punishment that fits the offense].’ 

Proverbs 17:14 (AMP) 

The beginning of strife is like letting out water [as from a small break in a dam; first it trickles and then it gushes]; 

Therefore abandon the quarrel before it breaks out and tempers explode. 

Point 1 | Cut The Wire 

Numbers 20:6-9 (NIV) 

6 Moses and Aaron went from the assembly to the entrance to the tent of meeting and fell facedown, and the glory of the LORD appeared to them. 7 The LORD said to Moses, 8 “Take the staff, and you and your brother Aaron gather the assembly together. Speak to that rock before their eyes and it will pour out its water. You will bring water out of the rock for the community so they and their livestock can drink.” 

9 So Moses took the staff from the LORD’s presence, just as he commanded him. v 10-16 (NIV) 

10 He and Aaron gathered the assembly together in front of the rock and Moses said to them, “Listen, you rebels, must we bring you water out of this rock?” 11 Then Moses raised his arm and struck the rock twice with his staff. Water gushed out, and the community and their livestock drank. 

12 But the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not trust in me enough to honor me as holy in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this community into the land I give them.” 

13 These were the waters of Meribah,[a] where the Israelites quarreled with the LORD and where he was proved holy among them. 

Edom Denies Israel Passage 

14 Moses sent messengers from Kadesh to the king of Edom, saying: 

“This is what your brother Israel says: You know about all the hardships that have come on us. 15 Our ancestors went down into Egypt, and we lived there many years. The Egyptians mistreated us and our ancestors, 16 but when we cried out to the LORD, he heard our cry and sent an angel and brought us out of Egypt. 

“Now we are here at Kadesh, a town on the edge of your territory. 

v 13 (NIV) 

13 These were the waters of Meribah,[a] where the Israelites quarreled with the LORD and where he was proved holy among them. 

Point 2 | Rewire 

Matthew 5:38-42 (MSG) 

38-42 “Here’s another old saying that deserves a second look: ‘Eye for eye, tooth for tooth.’ Is that going to get us anywhere? Here’s what I propose: ‘Don’t hit back at all.’ If someone strikes you, stand there and take it. If someone drags you into court and sues for the shirt off your back, giftwrap your best coat and make a present of it. And if someone takes unfair advantage of you, use the occasion to practice the servant life. No more tit-for-tat stuff. Live generously. 

Romans 12:2 (NIV) 

2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. 

2 Corinthians 10:3-6 (NIV) 

For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 6 And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete. 

Philippians 4:8-9 (AMP) 

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you. 

Point 3 | Have A Higher Power 

Romans 12:19-21 (NLT) 

19 Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,”[a] says the Lord. 20 On the contrary: 

“If your enemy is hungry, feed him; 

if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. 

In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”[b] 

21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. 

Matthew 6:12 (AMP) 

‘And forgive us our [a]debts, as we have forgiven our debtors [letting go of both the wrong and the resentment]. 

Isaiah 26:3 (ESV) 

You keep him in perfect peace 

whose mind is stayed on you, 

because he trusts in you. 

Colossians 3:1-2 (NIV) 

Since then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 

1 Corinthians 2:16 (NIV) 

“Who has known the mind of the Lord 

so as to instruct him?”[a] 

But we have the mind of Christ.

7 For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.
