Jesus Never Said That; Jesus Points Out All of My Faults

We’ve all heard phrases like, ‘Jesus doesn’t want me to have fun,’ or ‘Jesus only points out my faults.’ But are they true? This series will separate the myths from the truth, showing us the heart of Jesus through His actual words.

Praise hands

John 3:16-17 (NIV)

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

THE ENEMY ACCUSES US

Revelation 12:10 (NIV)

…For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down.

·     A). THE DEVIL DOESN’T TAKE A DAY OFF

2 Corinthians 5:17-18 (NIV)

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! 18 All this is from God…

·      B). HE DISTORTS OUR VIEW OF GOD

1 Timothy 1:15-16 (NLT)

This is a trustworthy saying, and everyone should accept it: “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners”—and I am the worst of them all. But God had mercy on me so that Christ Jesus could use me as a prime example of his great patience with even the worst sinners. Then others will realize that they, too, can believe in him and receive eternal life.

·      C). HE TELLS US THAT THERE IS NO WAY OUT

1 Corinthians 10:13 (NLT)

The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.

JESUS MEETS US WITH GRACE, NOT CONDEMNATION

John 8:3-11 (NLT)

3 As [Jesus] was speaking, the teachers of religious law and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in the act of adultery. They put her in front of the crowd. 4 “Teacher,” they said to Jesus, “this woman was caught in the act of adultery. 5 The law of Moses says to stone her. What do you say?” 6 They were trying to trap him into saying something they could use against him, but Jesus stooped down and wrote in the dust with his finger. 7 They kept demanding an answer, so he stood up again and said, “All right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone!” 8 Then he stooped down again and wrote in the dust. 9 When the accusers heard this, they slipped away one by one, beginning with the oldest, until only Jesus was left in the middle of the crowd with the woman. 10 Then Jesus stood up again and said to the woman, “Where are your accusers? Didn’t even one of them condemn you?” 11 “No, Lord,” she said. And Jesus said, “Neither do I. Go and sin no more.”

·      A). JESUS DOESN’T IGNORE OUR SIN. HE OVERCOMES IT!

Romans 8:1(NIV)

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus…

B). GRACE MEETS US PERSONALLY

Psalm 18:35 (TPT)

…By stooping down in gentleness, you made me great!

OUR RESPONSE TO GRACE

John 8:10-11 (NLT)

Jesus stood up again and said to the woman, “Where are your accusers? Didn’t even one of them condemn you?” 11 “No, Lord,” she said. And Jesus said, “Neither do I. Go and sin no more.”
