 There is a progression

James 1:14-16 (NET) But each one is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desires. Then when desire conceives, it gives birth to sin, and when sin is full grown, it gives birth to death. Do not be led astray, my dear brothers and sisters.

The Lure — Temptation     

1 Timothy 2:9-10 (NLT) And I want women to be modest in their appearance. They should wear decent and appropriate clothing and not draw attention to themselves... For women who claim to be devoted to God should make themselves attractive by the good things they do.

1 Peter 3:4-5 (The Living Bible) Be beautiful inside, in your hearts, with the lasting charm of a gentle and quiet spirit that is so precious to God. That kind of deep beauty was seen in the saintly women…who trusted God.

The Hook — Action

John 8:34 (CEB) “Jesus replied, ‘I assure you that everyone who sins is a slave of sin.’”

The Catch — Death

Proverbs 14:12 (NIV) There is a way that seems right to a man,  but in the end it leads to death.

1 Corinthians 10:13 (NLT) The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful…When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.

The way out:

Don’t Feed What You’re Trying to Starve
