“The Bat was only valuable because Babe Ruth’s name was on it. Since he made it valuable, the only reasonable thing I could do was something that would honor his life.” - Marcia Napoli-Tejeda

  1. We Honor Life

  • Every life is worthy of Honor

Revelation 7:9 NIV

“After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb.”

  • The Widow & the Orphan are worthy of Honor

1 Timothy 5:3 AMP

“Honor and help those widows who are truly widowed [alone, and without support].”

James 1:27 CSB

“Pure and undefiled religion before God the Father is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress…”

  • The Aged are worthy of Honor

Leviticus 19:32 AMP ‘

“You shall rise before the gray-headed and honor the aged…”

Job 12:12 NLT

“Wisdom belongs to the aged, and understanding to the old.”

  • The Poor are worthy of Honor

Proverbs 14:31 NLT

“Those who oppress the poor insult their Maker, but helping the poor honors him.”

  • The Disabled are worthy of Honor

Luke 14:12-14 TLB

“Then he turned to his host. “When you put on a dinner,” he said, “don’t invite friends, brothers, relatives, and rich neighbors! For they will return the invitation. 13 Instead, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind. 14 Then at the resurrection of the godly, God will reward you for inviting those who can’t repay you.”

  • The Life of an Unborn Child is worthy of Honor

Jeremiah 1:5 ESV

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

Psalm 139:13,15-16 TLB

“You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit them together in my mother’s womb. 15 You were there while I was being formed in utter seclusion! 16 You saw me before I was born and scheduled each day of my life before I began to breathe. Every day was recorded in your book!”

  1. We Honor those in Authority

Romans 13:1 KJV

“Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God”

  • Social Authority

‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3:22‬ ‭TPT‬‬

“Let every employee listen well and follow the instructions of their employer, not just when their employers are watching…”

‭‭Colossians‬ ‭4:1‬ ‭TPT‬‬

“Employers, treat your workers with equality and justice as you know that you also have a Lord and Master in heaven who is watching you.”

  • Church Authority

Ephesians 4:11-12 NLT

“Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. 12 Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.”

Hebrews 13:17 NLT

“Obey your spiritual leaders, and do what they say. Their work is to watch over your souls, and they are accountable to God. Give them reason to do this with joy and not with sorrow. That would certainly not be for your benefit.”

  • Civil Authority

Romans 13:3-7 AMP

“3For [civil] authorities are not a source of fear for [people of] good behavior, but for [those who do] evil... 4For he is God’s servant to you for good. But if you do wrong, [you should] be afraid; for he does not carry the [executioner’s] sword for nothing. He is God’s servant, an avenger who brings punishment on the wrongdoer. 5Therefore one must be subject [to civil authorities], not only to escape the punishment [that comes with wrongdoing], but also as a matter of principle [knowing what is right before God]. 6For this same reason you pay taxes, for civil authorities are God’s servants, devoting themselves to governance. 7Pay to all what is due: tax to whom tax is due, customs to whom customs, respect to whom respect, honor to whom honor.”

Revelation 3:21 AMP

“He who overcomes [the world through believing that Jesus is the Son of God], I will grant to him [the privilege] to sit beside Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down beside My Father on His throne.”

1 Samuel 2:8 NLT

“…For all the earth is the LORD’s, and he has set the world in order.”

  • Family Authority

Ephesians 6:1-3 TLB

“Children, obey your parents; this is the right thing to do because God has placed them in authority over you. 2 Honor your father and mother. This is the first of God’s Ten Commandments that ends with a promise. 3 And this is the promise: that if you honor your father and mother, yours will be a long life, full of blessing.”

  1. We Honor our Spouse

Romans 12:10 ESV

“…Outdo one another in showing honor.”
